Sunday Nature Walk

This morning we decided to go on a wee nature walk. We don't live within walking distance of any kind of park but we do have areas of our neighborhood that contain a bit more trees. The girls like to call it the jungle! It was about 60 degrees and sunny, so we grabbed out baskets and went to look for cool pieces of nature!
Willow and Wren ready to score some cool stuff!!!

Here are the cool things the girls found!
Hope everyone has a great Sunday!!!

Really Cool Site- Maybe?

I started off this blog to share a really cool site I found while cruising the net. I went to dig a little deeper to provide some more information and came across some disturbing information. I was going to scrap the blog all together then I thought "Well, I will just share what I have found!"
The site is Kickstarter. The idea behind Kickstarter is to provide funding for many different kinds of projects. For instance- if you have a book you want to try and self publish and need a certain amount of funds to get it going you post it on Kickstarter. You provide information about your project, about yourself, the money you need etc. Then people can donate money for your project. I thought, what a great platform for anybody to be able to fund their dream ideas without having to go to a bank that would probably turn you down anyway!!!
So, once I started digging I found alot of people saying that Kickstarter was a SCAM!! I do not know if this is true or not. I definately think this site is an awesome idea and would love to hear from anybody who has used it or know somebody who has used it and hear what they think.
Opinions and thoughts please!

Kickin' Tuesday Tunes!

I am a huge music lover, so I decided to make Tuesdays- kickin' tunes day. Every Tuesday I will post a song that brings me inspiration, gets my blood flowing or makes me want to get up and get down!!!!!
This first week is a song from One Eskimo. I love them!! I saw them on Conan(I think) and looked them up and loved them ever since. This song is totally inspirational to me and makes me want to create. Enjoy!
P.S.- They will be on the Ellen show tomorrow to help celebrate her birthday!

One eskimO - Amazing (In-studio on TheAlternateSide.org)

Arggg!!!

I should know better than to try and redesign my blog while the kids are awake! Willow is maniacally laughing in the other room and Wren is on my lap asking me what buttons do what!!! My blog is on shambles!!! I will have to come back tonight!!!!

Oh, Great Spirit

I have not blogged in over a week! One of the things I promised myself is that I would be more consistent on my blogging, however I have been feeling like crap for about the past 2 weeks. Low energy, crappy stomach and over all BLAH!!!! I decided to not be so hard on myself and rest. I think it was the Universe's way of telling me not to be such a spaz and stop putting pressure on my self to get so many things finished with self-imposed deadlines!!!
I have a vision/inspiration board hanging on the wall in front of my computer( it is still a work in progress) and on it I have an old native american poem. I love this poem and see it everyday. The other day a friend of mine sent it to me on facebook and reminded me of how much I love this poem! So- I will share it with y'all!

"Oh, Great Spirit, whose voice I hear in the wind,
Whose breath gives life to all the world.
Hear me; I need your strength and wisdom.
Let me walk in beauty, and make my eyes ever behold the red and purple sunset.
Make my hands respect the things you have made and my ears sharp to hear your voice
Make me wise so that I may understand the things you have taught my people.
Help me to remain calm and strong in the face of all that comes towards me.
Let me learn the lessons you have hidden in every leaf & rock.
Help me seek pure thoughts & act with the intention of helping others.
Help me find compassion without empathy overwhelming me.
I seek strength, not to be greater than my brother, but to fight my greatest enemy - Myself.
Make me always ready to come to you with clean hands and straight eyes.
So when life fades, as the fading sunset, my spirit may come to you without shame.

Veruca Salt

Lately, the Veruca Salt in me has been making appearences! I am not really digging this!

Veruca Salt

If you don't remember or are not familiar with Veruca Salt, she was a bratty, want it now character in Roald Dahl's book Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Of course later popularized by the films. Now I don't scream these wants and demands out loud like an ass but I am screaming them on the inside! I want to finish this project now, I want my blog the way I want it now, I want more time for me NOW!!!!!

Then I just have to take a deep breath and realize that things happen in the time they are supposed to happen. All I can do is what is under my control now. I am not the puppet master and cannot control all that surrounds me and I definately can't pull more time out of the thin air!!!

The Veruca Salt is quieted in me once again...

Does the Veruca Salt ever come out in you? What do you do to quiet her screams?

My New Light Cube!!!

I finally received my new tool in the mail! My Light cube!!! I never knew these things existed, but on my hunt for knowledge about taking better pictures of my arts and crafts I learned about the light cubes!!! Awesome! I have several items made that I would love to put up in my Artfire Shop, however taking pictures of them proved to be quite a challenge. Just another fine opportunity to excel! With 2 little very hands on girls running around it was just about impossible to take picture. Trying to find the right light, right time, etc., etc. I thought if I had a light cube I may take pics at night when they are in bed and have no light problem to boot! I found a great deal on this light cube from Cowboy Studios. Here is what I received:
My New Light Cube

Included: cube, 2 lights, 4 backgrounds, a table tripod and the handy dandy little black stand- get this- all for @ $60 bucks! Woo Hoo!!! Of course I did alot of research to find the best product for me at the best price. I think it will work out wonderfully!! I am going to have to play around with the backgrounds and lighting a bit but here is the first shot I took with it:
Not too shabby- and this was just a point and shoot with no adjusting or anything like that yet. I think I will be very happy. Needless to say- I will be listing several of my cool pieces of jewelry and art work soon on my Artfire.
Until later Peeps...

Slowly Plugging Along

The girls are playing very well with each other in their room so I am blessed to have one moment to blog! I have been working on some new pieces of art! ( I will post progress pictures below) I also found a great deal on a tabletop light cube so that I may take pictures of all the items I have already created in my Artfire store! Being a mommy crafter is challenging. You only have so much time to accomplish many things. My girls always come first so whatever time left over is mine.
Steampunk Debutante

It is a box with a steampunk style to it. I really love working with all those tiny wheels and cogs!
Well, my time is up!!! Hopefully to be back later- until then...

Bandit Artists

Who could possibly think that these 2 cuties would get into any type of trouble or mischief? Right?

Well, today my little Wren and Willow decided to "create" on their own without Mom's permission! Black paint all over the floor and scatterings of multi colored micro beads and flocking. Arrggg!!!! This was the creation that was made during the raiding of my supplies!
Not too shabby for a 2 and 3 year old with limited time before being discovered. I will also have to say that this piece of work has great texture! My floor is a whole other story!
Still working on getting those stains out! If this is the worst they ever do I am extremely lucky! I should also take this cue as a little hint that I should do some more art projects with them because after all, they just wanted to do what Mommy does!!! I suppose in some warped way I am a bit flattered, but not at all happy about this carpet!!!
