Messy Studio = Stuff Getting Finished!

Hey Y'all! Been very busy making cool stuff, sorting out costumes for the kids and stressing about the messy house yet doing nothing about it! I feel as if I am getting sick to boot! I'm keeping this post short and sweet so I can paint a little then hit the sack early. I'm posting pictures of my "Very Used" studio- ahem- and one of the items that are fully created. The rest are in various stages of finish which I will share as soon as they reach that point.

Yes, the floor is totally covered with papers, scissors, trinkets etc. Oh, and my Ipod- I love to listen to books while I make cool stuff! That table is where I mold and sculpt with my paperclay.

Paints of every color, glues, adhesives, Liquid Pearls- You name it! I actually know where everything is here!

Here is a box of completed ornaments. I am very pleased with how they tuned out. They are made out of Paperclay, which is a very light weight clay, so they are not very heavy at all!!! Decorated and embellished with paint, papers, liquid pearls, Stickles and drum roll please- GLITTER!!!! I will have to say, I am not a snobby creator and will add glitter wherever I see fit. Me love glitter! LOL!

I Have been a Busy Beaver!

A Week of Tests

This week has definitely tested me! Just when I think I am on a roll and am on top of everything- The Universe humbly reminds me who is in control- not me!!! LOL! Willow was very sick with an ear infection and missed 3 days of school. Wren missed these 3 as well because Willow was just too sick to drag around.    Then the night before Willow was going back to school, something went terribly wrong with my back! I think I injured it at the gym and then made it worse working out at home with the sick kids. I can barely walk and the pain is horrible. I have not made it to the gym in a week and this makes me mad!! Another lesson in slowing down and letting things that are out of my control go. I have not been able to work on my art either which makes me mad. LOL Yet another lesson in letting go. Things will return to normal and I know this. So, I am releasing this anger. Willow feels better and I will too- that is what is most important and everything else will fall into place. I was very busy with birds until this happened- check out my desk- it looks kinda scary!!

Birdies, Birdies and More Birdies!

If you told me a year ago that I would be making birds out of paper clay and loving it I would have said you were nuts!  Here I am- making birds and can't seem to make enough!!! If I had more time in my schedule I would have an aviary full of colorful, glittery, inspiring birdies! For now, I squeeze everything in, wherever and whenever possible! Here is a peek at some of my birdies that are almost finished and then will fly into my    shop!

Canvas a Month Class

I signed up to take The Canvas a Month class from Donna Downey. It is totally affordable and I am learning all kinds of new techniques! Each month she has a video where she shows you how to make 1 canvas. I just finished my January canvas! ( I know, it's March- but I have very little creative time with a 4 and 5 year old!) Evolving

Today I did a craft show that I do every year, the only one I do. I would really like to concentrate more on making an online presence. I do this one with my my friend and my mom and we have a great time. It was even slower than last year! I did however sell a handful of items. The best parts of the show were the compliments people gave me on my paintings. I believe people will not go out of their way to give you a compliment unless they actually mean what they are saying. I also noticed that my paintings made a lot of people smile and that was awesome! Even though I did not sell any of my art work, the positive feedback was great confirmation that I am on the right path! The best comment of the day was when a woman came up that had bought some items from me last year and told me she loved my work and that I was totally evolving. It made me do a little "Evolving" happy dance. Tee hee he!

I Have Found and Embraced My Passion!

Some people are lucky enough to be born knowing what  their passion is in life, while others need to go searching. I have been a searcher, navigating my way through life desperate to find that "Thing" that makes me feel all warm inside. I never really knew that I liked to create and never really tried until I was in my late 20's. I moved to Florida when I was about 22 and fell into a job teaching children art. Funny way the Universe puts things in your path. I didn't really pay attention to that cue from the Universe. I went through several boyfriends who were very artistic, a painter, musician, a writer. In retrospect I think I sought them out because they had what I wanted- to create. Did I mention that throughout this entire time I was a raging alcoholic and drug addict? I was a functioning one, always held down a job and managed to pay my bills but was a hot mess!!! When I met my husband and became pregnant I got clean and sober. May of this year marked 4 years clean and sober. It was during this time that I did some real searching. I painted, made jewelry, made soap, candles- you name it! I loved all of them and still love all of them, but I kept coming back to making soap and mixed media.

This is my soap with a crystal energy core! I get to combine my love of crystals with making soap! AWESOME!  I use all Brambleberry scents because they totally rock and are super rich smelling! Each soap contains a clear quartz crystal in the center. Clear quartz is considered the mother of all stones containing the full spectrum of energies. I will once again be making these and selling them in my store. I am also making lots of mixed media with bright colors that make you just want to eat a rainbow!!!
I have found my passion and I am on fire baby!

Bandit Artists

Who could possibly think that these 2 cuties would get into any type of trouble or mischief? Right?

Well, today my little Wren and Willow decided to "create" on their own without Mom's permission! Black paint all over the floor and scatterings of multi colored micro beads and flocking. Arrggg!!!! This was the creation that was made during the raiding of my supplies!

Not too shabby for a 2 and 3 year old with limited time before being discovered. I will also have to say that this piece of work has great texture! My floor is a whole other story!

Still working on getting those stains out! If this is the worst they ever do I am extremely lucky! I should also take this cue as a little hint that I should do some more art projects with them because after all, they just wanted to do what Mommy does!!! I suppose in some warped way I am a bit flattered, but not at all happy about this carpet!!!
